Mahébourg is a sleepy town in the southeast of Mauritius, close to the airport. It is the main city of the Grand Port district and is named after the French Governor Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais.
It was originally built by the Dutch during their brief period of colonization of the island. It is also the place where the only naval battle of the Napoleonic Wars was fought, in 1810 (thank you, Wikipedia).
Jumping with a face mask? Yes, COVID restrictions were still in place for public spaces at the time.
