On a hot weekend in February, we decided to climb Le Pouce Mountain.
Although it is the third-highest mountain in Mauritius (with an elevation of 812m), it is said to be one of the easiest mountain hikes on the island. This is due to the volcanic nature of the island, which means that the mountains are often very steep and many hikes quite technical and arduous.
This hike is a 2- to 3-hour round trip, with a 360ยฐ view of the island and Port Louis from the top. Being in the middle of summer, the hike was very hot and sweaty (as you may see in the jump below), but the view was worth it!
We didn't manage to go to the very top as we took a wrong turn and ended up on the trail that goes back down on the north side towards the capital. We'll try again next time!
