When applying for a Chinese visa, you need to provide proof of residence in China, among many other papers, at least for part of your trip. The easiest way to do this is by booking a room with an international hotel chain that offers easy ways to change or cancel your booking at no cost. So, three months before starting our Paris to Shanghai adventure, we booked a couple of nights at the Hilton Shanghai.
After our weekend in Sanya, we decided not to cancel our booking and to use that shiny hotel as a base camp for visiting the World Expo 2010. And Mr. Hilton was generous enough to upgrade us again to an Executive room on the top floor with amazing views of the city.
The only problem was that the ceiling was not very high, and I didn't want my head smashed against it while jumping. Hence, the bizarre jump.
