After the cruise, we spent a few days in Singapore, then took the bus to Kuala Lumpur, where we worked from for a couple of weeks, first in Bangsar and then from the Trader's hotel. From KL, we flew to Bangkok, for the last part of the trip.
We went to a street food tour on our first evening in Bangkok, as we had done in Mumbai a few weeks earlier. It was once again a great experience, maybe even better than in Mumbai, as the food in Thailand is amazing.
We also visited the Grand Palace, with its mix of traditional Thai and European architecture, including steep, tiered roofs, intricate gold leaf, mirrored mosaics, and stucco work sitting on top of neoclassical European structures. The palace has been the official residence of the Kings of Siam since 1782. The king, his court, and his royal government were based on the grounds of the palace until 1925.
