After the Guggenheim in Bilbao, we headed to the ferry terminal to board Brittany Ferries' Santona, which would take us across the Bay of Biscay to Portsmouth, UK, in 27 hours.
Brittany Ferries is a French company. The ferry bore the French flag and all crew was French, even it sailed from Spain to the UK. That made me somewhat want to make a patriotic jump in front of the ship's flag (hidden in the back on the picture).

The Bay of Biscay is known for its rough seas, but on this day, the waters were super calm. The weather was great and we had an amazing late sunset. The ship was very comfortable, food was good and we had an excellent passage overall.
Ferry may well be my preferred way of slow travel.
