Today we went on a Loch Linnhe boat cruise in Fort William.
The cruise was very nice as the weather was gorgeous, like everywhere we've been in Scotland so far. A feat, since apparently Fort William experiences four times more rain than the UK average and a lot of wind. We had none of that.
We went to see where the Caledonian Canal starts (or ends, I guess? Like a saussage). We even spotted the Royal Scotsman (aka Harry Potter train) passing by in the distance. Then we went down the canal, spotted deer and eagles far in the distance, and ended with a close encounter with seals enjoying the sun.
Once back, we ate a super good pizza at the Black Isle Bar. Then we went on a short walk along Neptuneโs Staircase, a set of eight locks that marks the beginning of the Caledonian Canal. Sadly, no boats passed through while we were there.
This jump concludes two weeks around Scotland and the Shetlands. We had an a blast. We will be back!
