Jumping around the Pink Salt Lake
- Walvis Bay, Namibia
We had booked a day tour to the famous Namib Desert. On the way, we stopped by the Pink Salt Lake near Walvis Bay.
Despite its name, it isn't really a lake, but one of the huge evaporation ponds of the Walvis Bay salt works, where seawater is left to dry in the sun until only the salt remains. The pink comes from tiny algae and bacteria that thrive in the salty water, full of the same pigments that make flamingos pink.
Sorry J. for the fail jump, I was taking the picture and couldn't get the timing right. But if you look veeerry closely, you're airborne!
