On a cool day in February, we attended the famous Fête du Citron (a.k.a. the Lemon Festival) in Menton, located between Monaco and the Italian border. Well, when I say it is famous, I mean that everybody in Menton knows about it.
The concept is rather simple: let's build houses, garden decorations, and floats made of lemons and oranges!
If you're wondering where this tradition comes from, it was introduced in the 19th century as a tourist trap attraction. At that time, wealthy tourists used to flock to the south of France (especially the Riviera) during the cold winter months in search of nicer weather (see Wikipedia for more background).
