From Singapore, we took a night train to Kuala Lumpur (or KL). That wasn't such a great idea... I really love trains as my Paris to Beijing with Trans-Siberian and Trans-Mongolian trains would confirm. I really enjoy traveling from one place to another and taking the time to see the journey and distances. And trains are best for that.
But this one night train wasn't. It was such a bumpy ride! I'm still unsure whether it was because our carriage was bad, because we had beds on the bogies or because the railway was in a very poor state. But we almost didn't sleep for the whole night. When we arrived in KL at 6am, we were all grumpy and tired.
Fortunately, we had booked rooms at the Traders Hotel, near the emblematic Petronas Towers. This hotel is quite well-known among backpackers in South East Asia, as it offers all the great amenities of a 4 or 5-star hotel (including a rooftop bar and swimming pool) but for a very decent price. We paid the equivalent of 70 euros per day for a double room!
After a huge breakfast, we went back to our room to sleep all that we couldn't sleep on the night train. At last.
After that, we were all ready to wander around the city, starting with the Petronas Tower, indeed!
