The original plan was to take a train from Kuala Lumpur to Rayley Beach, south of Thailand in order to spend a few days on one of the paradisiac beaches of the area. But, as often, by the time we went on checking train timetables and wanting to make a booking, there was nothing decent available anymore.
We ended up taking a short Air Asia flight to Krabi. From there we took a bus to Krabi city centre, and then a tuk tuk to Ao Nang on the beach front.
Rayley Beach is not an island, it is on the mainland. But there are no road to get there as a steep hill is blocking the way. So from Ao Nang we took a long tail boat to Rayley, as it was the only way to get there. After a short ride we were on the beach. It took us a good 1-2h to find the hotel we had booked (that includes the coffee break) but we finally did it, it was on the opposite beach.
Rayley is very small and you soon know most of the people around, especially after hanging on the trendy bars on the beach.
