Family Jumping in Boucherville

9 July, 2013 from Boucherville, Canada 2 Comments

After the roadtrip from New-York to Montréal in a car (see here and there), I spent around 10 days in Montreal. I spent a few days at Marie’s and Stéphane’s and their cute little family in Boucherville right outside Montréal. Marie & al’ have long been contaminated by the Jumping fever and were more than happy to make a featured jump for Jumping Traveler !!

Ain't that the coolest of all family jumps?

I really enjoyed Montréal. I had already been there 4 years ago (where I had made some Jumping in a Fancy Place) and I really enjoyed that lively multicultural city. Only thing is that next time I should visit in winter. I may change my opinion about my love for the city then 🙂

Jumping in Tulum

7 December, 2012 from Tulum, Mexico Leave a Comment

After Cuba we reached Cancun in Mexico. We then headed to Playa del Carmen before arriving in Tulum. We were a bit slowed down by the heat in Cancun and Playa del Carmen and didn’t have the courage to take 2 minutes for taking a couple of Jumping Pictures (don’t forget we were there in December, Frenchies like us are not used to such warm and cool vibe at that time of the year). We prefered finding comfortable lounge bars on the beach and slowly sip cocktails while contemplating the turquoise waters and people around… Yep, that how lazy we had been those day. Maybe are we getting old.

But arrived in Tulum, we had to jump if we wanted to pin Mexico on the map. So we took all our courage and did just that.

Tulum is a Mayan site with many temples that sits just nearby the Caribbean sea. It offers spectacular views on the sea and turquoise waters.

Jumping with sunglasses on is not always a good idea 🙂

In Tulum, we stayed at La Cigana Hostel (in the city, not on the touristy hostel strip along the beach). At first sight you could see it was a great hostel as they had a cat (and as mentioned before, cats are a primary source of information for finding a great place to stay). They don’t seem to have a website, so I’m posting the TripAdvisor link to La Cigana, should you be interested.

Jumping in Trinidad

29 November, 2012 from Trinidad, Cuba Leave a Comment

Our dear friend Paulina had invited us to her Wedding in Villahermosa, Mexico. We thought that was the most perfect excuse to escape the depressing French winter and wander new territories in Cuba, Mexico and Belize before getting to the  wedding.

We started with the large cuban Island. I had never been to Cuba before and it is definitely a must do for every well traveled person. Cuba is a country with several layers of modern history still visible: from the emblematic american cars from the 50ies, to the russian fridges from the 70ies and the chinese buses of the 2000s. Actually it sounds like most of the of the manufactured goods are nowadays coming from China.

If ever you want to discover Cuba, don’t stay in a hotel. They are super expensive and are only full of tourists. You should rather stay in a Casa Particular (“private house”). We booked our first Casa Particular in La Havana through Cuba Junky website. Then we booked the others casas through the network of the first casa owner. That was very effective !

We took the picture below on a beach near Trinidad, a very nice little city, with an old colonial style.

In the afternoon we went on a horse ride into the countryside up to La Cascada (“the fall”). After 2 hours on a horse, the fresh (and somewhat even cold) water from the fall was more than welcome.

Jumping in Kuala Lumpur

14 March, 2012 from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 1 Comment

From Singapore, we took a night train to Kuala Lumpur (or KL). That wasn’t such a great idea… I really love trains as my Paris to Beijing with Trans-Siberian and Trans-Mongolian trains would confirm. I really enjoy traveling from one place to another and taking the time to see the journey and distances. And trains are best for that.

But this one night train wasn’t. It was such a BUMPY ride ! I’m still unsure whether it was because our carriage was bad, because we had bed on the bogies or because the railway was in a very poor state. But we almost didn’t sleep for the whole night. When we arrived in KL at 6am we all were grumpy and tired.

Fortunately we had booked rooms at the Traders Hotel near the emblematic Petronas Towers. This hotel is quite known of the backpackers in South East Asia as it offers all great amenities of a 4*/5* hotel (including a rooftop bar and swimming pool) but for a very decent price. We paid the equivalent of 70 euros per day for a double room !

After a huge breakfast we went back to our room and sleep all we couldn’t sleep in the night train. At last.

After that we were all ready to wanter around the city, starting with the Petronas Tower indeed !

Jumping in Bocas del Toro

12 November, 2011 from Bocas del Toro District, Panama Leave a Comment

And again. Bocas was supposed to be a paradise and laid back island on the Caribbean sea, but we arrived along with a hectic stormy weather and almost never saw the sun for 3 days !

But again, that’s no reason not to jump and swim into the warm waters of the Caribbean sea, and snorkel to see plenty of colorful and amazing fishes.
